During this International Women’s Month, we had the pleasure of chatting with Rosine Davies, one of our female members with a deep passion for travel. Explore Rosine\u2019s inspiring journey and perspectives on travel in our conversation below as we celebrate International Women’s Month.<\/p>\n
Can you share a bit about your background and what inspired you to become a part of the Freebird Club Community? <\/p>\n
I am a retired high school teacher and university professor.\u00a0 I taught French and Spanish for 34 years in Essex and Morris Counties, New Jersey.\u00a0 Once I retired, I became an active member of Couchsurfing. I love to travel, so I have joined several sites associated with traveling.\u00a0 Actually, it was a member of the Ex50s on Facebook who talked about your site, so I joined.<\/p>\n
What aspects of traveling do you find most enjoyable or fulfilling?<\/p>\n
Being with locals and taking part in their daily activities are my favorite part of traveling.\u00a0 Of course, I always dedicate a few days to the usual tourist trap.<\/p>\n
Could you recount your most memorable travel experience?<\/p>\n
After I hosted a young Couchsurfing couple, 2 years later, they invited me to their wedding in Limay, France.\u00a0 Last year, they invited me to the baptism of their 1st. child.\u00a0 I attended both events.\u00a0 Now, I certainly feel that I\u00a0 am part of their family and vice versa.\u00a0 I have made some lasting relationships with many that I hosted through Couchsurfing and Couchers.\u00a0 Some have returned to my humble condo on many occasions.\u00a0 Also, I have visited them in their homeland.<\/p>\n
If you could choose any fictional character as your ideal travel companion, who would it be and why?<\/p>\n
He is not a fictional character but an expert in travel who has a YouTube program on traveling.\u00a0 His name is Ace.\u00a0 When I grow up, I\u00a0 want to be just like Ace.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
What destination is at the top of your travel wishlist, and what draws you to it?<\/p>\n
I would love to focus on the African continent because I have only visited 2 countries there.\u00a0 At the moment, I am trying to complete Central and South America.<\/p>\n
Can you share a unique or unexpected experience from one of your past travels that left a lasting impression on you?<\/p>\n
The wedding and the baptism in Limay, France.<\/p>\n
What Key advice would you offer to individuals who are eager to embark on their travel adventures but might be unsure where to start?<\/p>\n
Start close by to your home and immerse yourself in the culture. Don’t be afraid to take the plunge.<\/p>\n
