Roberta has been a Freebird member for a number of years and as one of our most engaged members for the month of May we thought we\u2019d give her a shout out. Thanks for chatting with us Roberta. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Roberta enjoys knitting, hand spinning, sewing, reading, cooking, listening to Irish music and hiking the trails of her local area. She has a Pemboke Welsh Corgi (pictured – look how cute it is), who loves visitors as much as she does. She enjoys spending time with her husband and adult twin daughters. <\/p>\n
We caught up with her to hear her in her own words:<\/p>\n
What is your top travel tip?
<\/h3>\n
“My best travel tip is to be open to meeting people and seeing new places. I felt we had to plan stays in advance, as we travelled in Ireland around St. Patrick\u2019s week, and so many places were booked. But we did have many unexpected discoveries, even with the planning.” <\/p>\n
What is your favourite travel destination with Freebird club and why?
<\/h3>\n
“My Freebird destination was Ireland, and it was a joy! We had 2 Freebird stays. We had a wonderful stay in Donegal. We were able to travel an hour or so from where we stayed and found great places (Slieve League Cliffs, Studio Donegal woollen mill, Glenveagh National Park, and Donegal town.) Our host Catherine gave us many ideas of where to go. We went out to hear music with her in Donegal town and totally enjoyed our stay with her and made friends.<\/p>\n
We had a shorter stay in Sligo, and had the unexpected find of Carrowkeel, a Neolithic cemetery full of passage tombs, and incredible views. Our hosts, Keith and Annie led us to the discoveries with books they had and advice on getting there. We also heard some of the best traditional music of our trip in Sligo! I\u2019d go back to Ireland in a flash. The Irish people were so friendly and interesting, I can\u2019t imagine not going again.”<\/p>\n
Where would you most like to go next and why?
<\/h2>\n
“We are also interested in Scotland for the music, natural beauty, and of course, woollen mills and such. We might try a visit to the Shetland Island music festival next year.”<\/p>\n
